Three years have passed since the terrorist bombings that focused all too brief, both the attention of the babe sleepers and those who are awake. Boston bled over this wound. And yet Boston still is its own breathing creature, with its own everyday ills. People are still kidnapped. People are still robbed. People fall into the needle's embrace, of black rock, of white powder. In this swill, a concoction has begun to permeate through the torn places in the fabric of the city's society. And with this, arises a shift in the current balance of power and wants through the form of words, seduction and wanton violence. Why would this game be of merit among those who carry on more dangerous games of their own?
S A L T L I C K. A plain name for such a piece of rock. But under the tongue, what worlds that rock happens to reveal that God himself has not seen. And what profits there will be to whomever happens to control the turf...

As indicated, this will be a long term, multi-faction conflict that will be entirely optional for players to participate in. Because of the recent shift in resources due to the terrorist bombing, coupled with the upheaval in American society over issues such as police brutality and racism, the law authorities in Boston will be unable to cope with the appearance and growth of this new drug. Why is this particular brand of rock candy dangerous? In addition to being addictive, it reveals temporarily, the supernatural world to their minds that for so long has been cultivated away from their prying eyes. At present, it is unknown as to who is manufacturing this product but given these components, someone or something not human is involved.
What are the benefits of you, the player, choosing to participate? For one, my hope is this event will allow players who have not encountered each other previously, to have the opportunity to do scenes with one another. It will promote conflict, as a hidden war starts. It will also provide additional plot that you can incorporate as much or as little of into your characters' or factions' stories as you like.
Mechanically, this event will be fought between two gang factions as proxies (to be elaborated on later), with Boston laid out as the game map. Splats will have the option to influence the turf war directly by first, choosing a proxy to champion, and then occupying particular neighborhoods of Boston. Think of this as making your particular character a game piece on the board. Depending on decisions made by your factions' leaders, your character will either be requested to attack or defend a particular neighborhood; there will of course, be an opponent who you will have to defeat in order to obtain, or retain, that territory. To allow for as many different kinds of characters to participate, there will be mechanics in place that can be used to represent on a simple level, the methods (direct combat, seduction, diplomacy, manipulation etc) your character may choose to utilize. METH level characters may participate in this event indirectly, but they can not function as a piece on the board.
This is a PLAYER DRIVEN event. There will be NO story tellers or ops involved directly, except to settle out of game disputes. After you have been assigned an encounter with another player, both of you will need to meet to discuss how you would like to role play the scene out and when. If you would like to free form, go ahead. If you rather rely on dice, go for it! Each neighborhood and territory will be provided a description for inspiration, so players will have a template to base their scene on. When your encounter is finished, you will inform the event coordinators what the result was, and this will be updated regularly here. If your character happens to lose, he/she/it will need to "sit out" from play i.e. be incapacitated for a period of time. What does incapacitated mean? That depends entirely on what you want, and what your scene partner desires: it could represent recovery from injury, or if your opponent is less forgiving... As always, there will be no permanent deaths allowed, unless consented to by the character's player in question.
What do we need from you? It will be a good while before this can begin, as I still need to put together maps and split up territories. I need an idea how many players may possibly be interested, so the game map of Boston ends up not being too big or too small? To this end, please respond to the poll and if you are particularly excited or have additional ideas you may want to suggest, do so below.
In the coming weeks, please check back here on occasion. I will release more content specific information in-game, and out-of-game details as I am able.
