a prince unbound, in abdication
No one wears crowns these days. Unassuming, he is the rawboned salaryman hucking noodles at a late night joint. The years have beaten hide to leather and weathered expression to that of a cliff face, cloven and nearly immutable. Eyes however, are haunted woods, the trunks growing thick in the dark, eyes that witnessed when beauty caused a city's walls to capitulate. When he speaks, his intonation jostles like a cart wheel over cobblestone bones that form the listener's spine, right into their gut.
What does one say of a man who with such unforced bearing, causes heads to incline? Such a man, is a king; where the weight of such concepts as obligation, or duty was once felt.
Therein lies the poignant contradiction, for a man is never one thing. Where one expects smoothness in palms from years of sitting at a corporate desk, calluses ridge. Where diplomacy's sleeve is draped in politeness and courtesy, couched in the ramifications of dignity, a tremor contracts the back of a tendon.
No one wears crowns these days.

Night Fight - Tan Dun
"Struggle becomes his delightful friend and mortal enemy. He fights in the dirt until water from the nearby Harpoon Ditch churns it to mud. He rises and enters the embrace of a city with many names -- upon-the-sea, Lord Shen's city, and strange ones, Pearl of the Orient and stranger still, Paris of the East -- and drinks of her ills."
Gone with Leaves - Tan Dun
"At the cusp of war, a woman enters his life and mentors him. He meets God, and it is not a God of angels and the spirit, it is a God of unrepentant vice."
The Assassin (Nie Yin Niang) Trailer
